UPDATE:

Arthive has now closed. Thanks for your support!

The last week of The Silent Era!

Well The Silent Era show will be wrapping up at the end of this week, so make sure you pop in! There is only a limited amount of time to get your hands on some delicious silent film inspired art for your home so get in quick!

I have really enjoyed being able to curate and organise the show. I found the only problem about organising a show inspired by something you love is I just want to buy all the artworks!

There are a bunch of photos added from the opening HERE on our facebook page and more will be added at the end of the week.
Also don't forget to check out Laughter is the Best Medicine - taken silently on the 30th of June at Newcastle Greater Union Cinema brought up here by Australia's Silent Film festival.

I thought I would end this blog by posting up the rest of the short films that have been playing on the cinema at the gallery. I hope you enjoy these films and come check out the show before it's over!

The Silent Era Opening

We had a fantastic time at our opening on Sunday. Thanks for all those who braved the cold wet weather to come along! I was worried the gallery might be a little chilly, but with the amount of people we had made for a cosy and warm atmosphere, so cosy at one point a window was opened!

We would like to give a BIG thank you to all these wonderful people who donated prizes to our raffle Blackbird Corner, Linda Wada, Alisha Hinds, Australia's Silent Film Festival, Hair Freaks and Crooked Crow Couture. We at ARThive are extremely grateful for your generosity. The winners were also extremely grateful and happy also!
Thanks to Amanda Reeves and co for peddling for the duration of ALL the silent films at one point, so all of us could stand back and relax and watch the films! Also Greer again from The Magnificent Revolution for providing us with such fun on the day and for the whole month!

There was a bunch of wonderful art works that sold at the opening alone on Sunday. If you are after something that appeals to your vintage tastes you can find a silent film inspired art piece for you home at our gallery.

The show runs until the 23rd of June 12-4 Wednesday to Saturday so make sure you come in to ride on the pedal powered cinema and take a look at some silent film inspired art!

There is a huge range of silent films to get inspiration from besides the obvious Chaplin or Keaton. There is horror, surrealism, comedy, drama, action etc. You can find rad short films that are experimenting with special effects etc. Also think of things like sets, props, camera equipment used also.
