Tonight in the gallery from 7PM we have an evening of experimental noise, electronica, and sound art from local heroes Luke Hoskins AKA DRILLBIT and Michael Liestins AKA COCK SAFARI, with special guest from Brisbane, respectable sound artist Adam Park AKA UNIQUE OIL FREE AIR. To finish off the night, Adam Park and Michael Liestins may collaborate as ANAL CUM WOLF. Homemade CDs and Cassettes will be available to purchase. Entry is by donation.
Secret Santa
Secret Santa is the final exhibition for 2009 for the gallery. To celebrate Christmas and our first successful year of operation, we've invited all of the artists, performers, volunteers, and friends of Arthive to participate in a fun artwork exchange and open show. Works will be exhibited for the duration of the show and then gifted at random to other participating artists. It's not too late to be a part of the show, if you're keen, stop by and ask for a blank postcard!

Magic Mushroom Mould Mountain Made Mysteriously Of Milked Moose
Magic Mushroom Mould Mountain Made Mysteriously Of Milked Moose is a new installation and exhibition of photographic, illustrative and sculptural works from Marnie Vaughn and Miriam Montgomery.
This collaborative installation plays with the idea of the narrative in altered states of consciousness. It encourages audience interaction as they have a mystical experience of magic mushroom mould mountain, made mysteriously of milked moose. The installation aims to express a sense that all could change again upon entry, highlighting the fleeting nature of dreams and memories.“things that grow, and things that snow, get big and small, short and tall, It’s a story, a mystery, a once upon a time of a different kind, you never know what you might find; nut cracker, mad hatter, pip the snail and her button tail, William the worm who lost his squirm, strawberry tea, for free, at three, would it be, that we would pee, from a tree.”

TYRANNOSAURUS REX
RAWR! The next exhibition of natural history at the ARThive Gallery will be titled TYRANNOSAURUS REX. Amateur paleontologist Grant Hunter has unearthed a large collection of new specimens on his latest dig, and has kindly decided to share them.
The exhibit will consist of dinosaur themed artworks from a selection of incredible artists working in painting, illustration, sculpture, photography, and video.

THRIVE
THRIVE - curated by Anthony Ferris
THRIVE has a dual motive. One, it is the official launch of the arthive collective, Arthive gallery and a studio hub for arthivers. Two, it is due time to pay respect to some of Newcastle’s finest artists. The exhibition showcases artists’ works throughout the entire building, or hive as we like to call it, so the audience will be completely surrounded and engulfed by art and its antics. For a busy and productive hive to succeed, we need to embrace all artists, to create an art space that feels open and accessible to the art world and the public in general. This exhibition utilises many different groups, styles and subcultures that work in Newcastle to bring them together in a hive of activity.The studio Artists gain access to their gallery for the first time to exhibit, whilst allowing outside artists to create works in the corridors, walls, stairs and outside areas. The exhibition will provide live music over the entire opening, breaking for the art auction that will help fund the Arthive collective’s future projects.
